As a warm-up to the main event in December, SQIFF will be hitting the road this November, taking the best in queer cinema to some of our favourite Scottish venues, from Stornoway to Edinburgh.
We’re delighted to be part of the first ever Glasgow Feminist Arts Festival with our screening of Cheryl Dunye’s The OWLS at CCA , Glasgow on 17 November, in which a pair of older, wiser lesbians accidentally kill a younger woman and hide her body.
On 20 November we team up with Edinburgh University Student Association’s Liberation Campaigns group for a special showing of Kenyan lesbian romance Rafiki, followed by a fascinating conversation about queer African representation. Rafiki also screens at DCA in Dundee on 26 November
Following on from their first ever Pride march, we head up to Stornoway on 23 November with the dazzling Oscar winner A Fantastic Woman, featuring Daniela Vega in a star-making performance.
Maryhill’s exciting new community cinema The Seamore will host a showing of classic gay teen romance Beautiful Thing on 29 November (with tickets priced on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale) and on 1 December SQIFF hits Inverness with Buddies – the first ever feature film made about AIDS – screening at Eden Court as part of World AIDS day.
