We have a paid opportunity for someone to join the 2020 SQIFF programming team and receive training in film exhibition as part of Film Hub Scotland’s New Promoter Scheme.
Do you have a passion for film? Would you like to gain paid experience in film exhibition? Then the Film Hub Scotland New Promoters Scheme could be for you.
We are offering an exciting paid opportunity for people who’d like to better understand how to programme films for audiences in Scotland through the New Promoters Scheme. This role aims to increase the number of film programmers who are marginalised working for cinemas, festivals and venues within Scotland. This includes those marginalised due to race, gender, sexuality, age, class, and disability. This comes from a recognition that these identities are not adequately represented within the Scottish screen industry.
The roles are offered on a part-time basis, approx 2 days per week for 5 months (with flexibility) paid at the Real Living Wage. The starting date for the role at SQIFF will be 1st June 2020. You will work towards programming events for our festival taking place 14-18 October 2020.
The role will be office based and you will be supported to show films and create events, learning about distributor negotiations, screening formats, film transport, venue selection, audience development, and how to create an effective marketing campaign.
In addition to this we will provide training from film industry experts in selecting and showing films, creating and running events, organising festivals and marketing. You don’t need any previous film experience, just a passion for cinema and an interest in working in the industry.
You can apply using an online Google form, by video, or by text message. Click here for more information and details on how to apply.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 17 April.
The New Promoters Scheme is supported by Film Hub Scotland.
