Queer Women in Love: The Wedding Song (Glasgow)
November 17, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
£5During the Nazi occupation of Tunis, young friends Nour, who is Muslim, and Myriam, who is Jewish, live in a humble neighbourhood where their communities live in harmony. But the world shared by Jews and Arabs is being split by German plans to rid Tunis of its French and Jewish populations. Myriam’s mother (played by director Karin Albou) attempts to marry her off to a wealthy doctor in order to save the family from Nazi oppression. But Myriam and Nour, who have an ambigous, sensual bond, conspire to scupper the wedding plans.
Screening with short film Swollen Stigma by Sarah Pucill. A woman is alone in her home and is visited by visions of her lover, who appears as a phantom upside down in an armchair, hanging legs-down from the ceiling, playing dead on the floor, or eating roses in this pain-filled but sensuous ode to absent love.
Ages 18+ only.
