Yapping Out Loud: Contagious Thoughts from an Unrepentant Whore
On May 1, 2002, transsexual sex worker and performance artist Mirha-Soleil Ross delivered a powerful monologue confronting anti-prostitution rhetoric and campaigns, exposing their often devastating effects on sex workers’ lives, rights, and working conditions. Combining sharp political commentary with striking performance documentation and hard-hitting animal rights footage, the film moves between anger, wit, and resistance. Ross challenges the moral assumptions underpinning campaigns against sex work, while drawing connections between different forms of oppression and control. Fierce, provocative, and uncompromising, the work becomes a manifesto for bodily autonomy, solidarity, and freedom for all.
After the screening, Jaye Hudson of TGirlsonFilm will be in conversation with writer, filmmaker and trans daughter of Ross, Morgan M Page, discussing Ross’s prolific oeuvre, including her video work, trans film festival, and the iconic recently republished zine Gender Trash from Hell.
