DESCRIPTION:During the Nazi occupation of Tunis\, young friends Nour\, who is Muslim\, and Myriam\, who is Jewish\, live in a humble neighbourhood where their communities live in harmony. But the world shared by Jews and Arabs is being split by German plans to rid Tunis of its French and Jewish populations. Myriam’s mother (played by director Karin Albou) attempts to marry her off to a wealthy doctor in order to save the family from Nazi oppression. DESCRIPTION:JJ is a black lesbian ‘stud’ working as a wedding photographer with white gay best friend\, Seb. When JJ falls in love with the beautiful and mysterious Elle\, JJ and Seb’s friendship is tested for the first time as JJ has to choose between her hot new lover and her friend. Meanwhile\, Seb rejects the advances of local drug dealer Smack Jack because he’s too busy lusting over ‘straightacting’ Manchester Joe from Gaydar. Stud Life depicts a slice of life inside an urban London LGBT scene rarely shown\, where gender is up for grabs but desire follows strict rules. Directed by boundary-pushing filmmaker and campaigner for better representation of queer people of colour\, Campbell X. \nThere will be a Q&A with director Campbell X after the screening hosted by artist and activist Chardine Taylor-Stone. \nScreening with short films Janine\, Fingers\, and Goodnight My Love. Janine – the first film of legendary New Queer Cinema filmmaker Cheryl Dunye – is about a black lesbian woman’s relationship with a white\, upper middle class girl when they were both in high school. Fingers by Sandra Alland features a British Sign Language (BSL) poetry performance by Alison Smith about love\, longing\, and the sexiness of touch. In Goodnight My Love\, directed by Kellee Terrell\, two lovers are caught in a zombie apocalypse and the terror of impending doom brings out tensions between them as they take aim at each other’s faults. \nRated 18. \n£7.
