SUMMARY:Queers at the Movies: the State of Queer Film Exhibition in Scotland

Please send these to alice@sqiff.org. For accessibility reasons we will require all clips be subtitled or captioned. We are using the CCA Club Room\, for which access is via a lift with level access on the ground floor entrance. All films will screen with subtitles or captions to make them accessible for D/deaf and Hard of Hearing people. We will have BSL interpretation for the discussion element of the event. If you have any other access requests\, let us know by posting on the page or contacting marcdavid@sqiff.org. \nThe event is free and un-ticketed. Just show up on the day. Information packs and case studies will also be provided on the day. \nThere will be networking opportunities throughout the day\, offering opportunities to meet other film groups and share ideas. Tea\, coffee and a light lunch will be available\, with vegan options available. If you have any special dietary requirements or you would like more information\, please get in touch with Peter Martin on peter@cinemaforall.org.uk or visit www.cinemaforall.org.uk \nACCESSIBILITY \nThe CCA has level access at the main entrance and to reach the Cinema space. SUMMARY:SQIFF Schools: Pride
DESCRIPTION:Summer\, 1984 – Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is on strike. In London\, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. The Union seems embarrassed to receive their support but the activists are not deterred and set off in a minibus to a mining village in Wales to make their donation in person. And so begins the extraordinary story of two seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant partnership. \nRobert Kincaid\, a member of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners who was present at events in 1984\, will join us for a Q&A after the film. \nPresented in association with LGBT Youth Scotland. \nThe event is suitable for Secondary 4-6. The film contains some strong language and sexual references. We are screening the film with English subtitles for accessibility. If anyone attending requires BSL interpretation for the introduction\, please let us know when booking. \nThe event is free for all schools\, youth groups\, and colleges. To book a place\, email helen@sqiff.org with the name of your school or group\, the name of the teacher supervising the trip\, the number of pupils you would like to bring\, and whether there are any accessibility requirements for anyone attending.
