SUMMARY:Workshop: Identity & Documentary with Scottish Documentary Institute
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore the notion of identity through the medium of short documentary\, with guest filmmakers working in animation\, broadcast\, and creative documentary. \nOrganised in partnership with Scottish Documentary Institute\, this workshop is aimed at emerging filmmakers and artists who are developing projects around identity and are keen to get inspired in an informal\, collaborative\, and safe environment. Participants will be invited to submit their own short documentary project for feedback if they would like to. \nWe are delighted that documentary filmmakers Inma de Reyes and Steven Fraser will discuss their work during this session. \nApplication to this event is FREE. Her debut documentary short ‘To Be a Torero’ premiered in Sheffield Doc/Fest in 2018 and she is currently developing its feature version\, ‘El Niño y el Traje de Luces / The Boy and the Suit of Lights’\, co-produced with Aconite Productions (UK) and Rustic Canyon (USA) and due to premiere in 2022. She also recently directed a mid length documentary\, ‘Isabel’s Independence’\, commissioned by BBC Scotland and Creative Scotland. Inma is a Chicken & Egg Pictures grantee and her work has featured in The Skinny\, MUBI and Screenskills. \nSteven Fraser  \nSteven is an animator\, artist and writer who creates short films\, comics\, zines\, performances and installations. Steven makes inventive use of animation\, illustration\, puppetry and kinetic art to present unique and interesting stories. Steven identifies as queer and autistic and his animation and performance work has been screened and staged at many international film and arts festivals. \nScottish Documentary Institute (SDI) \nEstablished in 2004 to nurture documentary filmmakers and audiences in Scotland and beyond\, SDI specialises in documentary training\, production and distribution\, supporting filmmakers through its diverse programme of international activities and high quality training programmes. \nSDI has produced over a hundred and fifty films\, screening in eighty countries worldwide\, garnering international recognition as being at the cutting edge of the documentary sector. DESCRIPTION:Artist Joe Dunn hosts a workshop on exploring creativity and identity through the art of collages and getting messy and creative with tee shirts! No restrictions on imagination. Attendees can bring their own materials along such as newspapers\, magazines\, or old books\, and any art supplies they wish to use. There will also be materials provided. \nCurated by Jamie Rea. The workshop will be in BSL with BSL-English interpretation and live captioning available.
