SUMMARY:SQIFF Shorts: Switching Teams
DESCRIPTION:A trans woman is pursued by a charming cis man who is not the kind individual he first seems. A trans skater from Sheffield switches roller derby teams in order to live more authentically. A teenager and their traditionally-minded father struggle to find common ground after the former starts questioning their gender identity in rural Ireland. And a young man in Hong Kong documents his personal journey through conversations with family\, friends\, and God as he connects with his inner self. SUMMARY:Sad Girl Cinema
DESCRIPTION:Sad Girl Cinema is an ongoing documentary film project exploring mental health narratives in screen culture created by queer writers Claire Biddles and Bethany Rose Lamont and designed by Maggie Webster. Sorted into three themes: therapy\, the mental health ward\, and tortured geniuses and tragic muses\, SGC navigates a whole bunch of pop cultural clichés in film\, television\, and music videos. For SQIFF\, SGC presents a selection of clips exploring these themes through a queer lens\, plus a first look at the documentary and a panel discussion on the intersection of mental health and LGBTQ+ identity on screen. \nIn partnership with LGBT Health and Wellbeing. \nACCESS: Level access at entrance of CCA with lift up to first floor for Theatre space.
