DESCRIPTION:On her way to the store with a group of friends\, trans woman Chrishaun Reed “CeCe” McDonald was brutally attacked and in defending her life\, a man was killed. After a coercive interrogation\, CeCe was incarcerated in a men’s prison in Minnesota. An international campaign to free CeCe garnered significant support from media and activists\, including actress Laverne Cox. Cox signed on as executive producer of FREE CeCe!\, committed to exploring the role race\, class\, and gender played in the case. In the end\, CeCe emerged not only as a survivor but also as a leader. \nFollowed by a discussion with Chryssy Hunter from Bent Bars Project\, a letter writing scheme for LGBTQ+ people in prison in the UK. DESCRIPTION:Presenting a selection of the compelling array of queer filmmaking happening in Scotland. DESCRIPTION:**THIS YEAR’S FILMMAKING COURSE IS NOW FULLY BOOKED** \nVarious venues in Glasgow\, 21st/22nd/28th/29th October\, FREE. \nA course taking place over 2 weekends designed for trans\, non-binary\, and intersex people to come together and create a short film. Learn about the process of filmmaking including coming up with an idea\, writing a script\, shooting\, and editing. Led by experienced tutors Kate Burton and Asten Holmes-Elliott and suitable for beginners and those with a small amount of filmmaking experience. \nIn partnership with Scottish Trans Alliance\, an organisation working to improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality\, rights\, and inclusion. \nTravel and accommodation costs available. Open to anyone who identifies as trans\, non-binary\, or intersex who is living in Scotland.
