SUMMARY:Pride & Protest: Live Watch Party + Q&A with director Blaise Singh
DESCRIPTION:Pride & Protest is a documentary about QTIPOC communities and activists in Britain today and struggles surrounding the politics of desire\, self-care\, and found family. In the wake of the Birmingham protests against LGBTIQ+ relationship education in primary schools\, director Blaise Singh follows various queer people of colour as they challenge homophobia and racism in their communities. They speak out against internalised shame and lack of representation\, and we follow them trying to figure out their place in the world in the build up to UK Black Pride. \nThe film will screen on Zoom as a live watch party followed by a Q&A with director Blaise Singh and other members of the cast and crew. We will send out a Zoom link for the event to ticket holders on the day. We are partnering with An Lanntair to host this event to mark LGBT History Month 2021 this February. \nThis event is a ‘Pay What You Can’ event – come for free or pay what you can afford. To book\, click the button below or call An Lanntair on 01851 708 480. \n[bra_button text=’Buy Tickets’ url=’https://tickets.lanntair.com/sales/categories/sqiff/pride–protest/live-watch-party–qa/pay-what-you-can-afford’ target=’_blank’ size=’medium’ style=’rounded’ color=’pink’] \n  \nACCESS \nThe film is English language with captions and the Q&A will have live captions available. SUMMARY:Lesbian with a Movie Camera
DESCRIPTION:As part of LGBT History Month Scotland\, we present a lovingly-curated selection of indie\, punk\, and DIY lesbian shorts from across half a century of filmmaking\, featuring known names and unsung (s)heroes alike.  Ranging from the hilarious to the experimental\, the programme features a rare screening of Caroline Sheldon’s witty and subversive 17 Rooms (Or What Do Lesbians Do in Bed?). Scheduled in 1986 for a prime slot on Channel Four’s pioneering In The Pink season\, Sheldon’s film was scandalously pulled at the last minute – not because of any explicit content but because it was thought audiences might object to its title. \nThis is a free\, unticketed event; donations are very much appreciated and will collected after the screening.  The screening is on the ground floor of our venue Transmission. Accessible toilet available. Films shown will include captions for better D/deaf and hard of hearing access.

SUMMARY:Tangerine plus Deep Breath
DESCRIPTION:Tangerine (2015) starring Kitana Kiki Rodriguez and Mya Taylor made waves for being one of the few feature films about trans women played by actual trans women actors as well as being shot entirely on an iPhone. Sin-Dee Rella\, a sex worker who has just finished a 28-day prison stint\, meets her friend Alexandra at a donut shop in Hollywood on Christmas Eve. Alexandra accidentally reveals that Sin-Dee’s boyfriend and pimp Chester has been cheating on her with a cisgender woman. Sin-Dee storms out to search the neighborhood for Chester and the woman. \nFollowed by short film Deep Breath\, made as part of SQIFF 2015 and Scottish Transgender Alliance’s (STA) trans filmmaking course. The course participants will join us for a Q&A to talk about their experiences making the film. STA will also discuss its new Trans Friendly Venue Charter at the event. \nOver 18s only. \nFree. To book tickets please use the button below. \nThe Glad Cafe is accessible for wheelchairs. It has level access at the entrance with a ramp to access the screening space.
