With their support\, Ben comes to terms with his identity and begins to build bridges with his family. DESCRIPTION:In the last few years\, local authorities in Scotland have increased care charging\, obliging people with disabilities to pay more than others to achieve the same basic human rights. Tax on Me is a hip-hop music video by filmmaker Kiana Kalantar-Hormozi and media coop responding to the Care Tax and the effect it has on people who need support. \nSophie Sexon\, performance artist and researcher based in Glasgow\, and Theresa Heath\, researcher and founder of Wotever DIY Film Festival based in London\, will join Kiana for the Tax On Me panel. DESCRIPTION:Atopos Compagnia Teatrale is an Italian theatre company bringing together professional and non-professional actors\, both trans- and cisgender. This documentary is about their experiences in the creation of Atopos’ flagship production\, Human Variables. The film describes reality through chronicling the making of a play\, a conventionally fictitious endeavour. Human Variables is a show that builds on the real life experiences of the actors appearing on stage\, ready to lay themselves bare at the same time as putting on a costume. A story of the eternal dialectic between actor and character\, truth and fiction\, life and theatre. \nDirector Alberto Amoretti and cinematographer Giovanni Hänninen of ATOPOS will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening. This immersive experience is designed to emulate the alienation and excitement of adolescence (particularly from a LGBTQ+ perspective) whilst simultaneously providing a safe space in the heart of the city centre.
