DESCRIPTION:Listen to this Event Page\n  \nOn May 1\, 2002\, transsexual sex worker and performance artist Mirha-Soleil Ross delivered a powerful monologue confronting anti-prostitution rhetoric and campaigns\, exposing their often devastating effects on sex workers’ lives\, rights\, and working conditions. Combining sharp political commentary with striking performance documentation and hard-hitting animal rights footage\, the film moves between anger\, wit\, and resistance. Ross challenges the moral assumptions underpinning campaigns against sex work\, while drawing connections between different forms of oppression and control. Fierce\, provocative\, and uncompromising\, the work becomes a manifesto for bodily autonomy\, solidarity\, and freedom for all. \nAfter the screening\, Jaye Hudson of TGirlsonFilm will be in conversation with writer\, filmmaker and trans daughter of Ross\, Morgan M Page\, discussing Ross’s prolific oeuvre\, including her video work\, trans film festival\, and the iconic recently republished zine Gender Trash from Hell. \nCurated by Jaye Hudson and Morgan M Page. SUMMARY:Closing Gala: Hunky Jesus
DESCRIPTION:Listen to this Event Page\n  \nJoin us for the closing event of the Scottish Queer International Film Festival as we celebrate another year of exceptional queer cinema. This year’s closing film is Hunky Jesus\, a documentary capturing the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’s iconic take on Easter Sunday. The sisters celebrate Easter with a massive drag competition in which people compete to be the hunkiest Jesus. It documents how community and camp can be powerful tools for resistance and solidarity. Essentially it’s an extremely fun\, silly work of queer cinema. It’s a guaranteed mood booster. And\, a fantastic way to wrap up another great year of SQIFF.
  \nThe film will be followed by a panel discussion with House of Nunsense\, Glasgow’s own chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.  \nThe winner of Best Scottish Short will be announced at the start of this event.
