As patriarchal Singaram comes to terms with his niece’s sexuality\, he is ostracised by his community because of her transgression. SUMMARY:Walking:Holding
DESCRIPTION:What does your town look like from someone else’s perspective? What’s it like to hold hands with a complete stranger and walk through the city centre? \nPerformance art and mobile technology converge in Walking:Holding\, a meditative documentary that journeys through urban landscapes exploring identity and intimacy in public space with a focus on LGBTQ+ experiences. \nThis film is a response to Glasgow based artist Rosana Cade’s award-winning interactive performance of the same name\, which invites audience members to embark on a carefully designed route through a town whilst holding hands with a series of different local participants. Shot entirely on mobile phones\, the film follows the performance to 6 towns across the UK between June and November 2016\, bookended by the Brexit vote and the election of Donald Trump. This unique collaborative documentary offers an insight into the intimate work at a particularly poignant time in terms of identity politics\, weaving together a range of perspectives and experiences from across the country. \nFollowed by a discussion with the filmmakers and participants of the Walking:Holding performance. Supported by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation and using public funds from the National Lottery through Arts Council England. \nImage credit: Walking:Holding by Rosana Cade\, Charlie Cauchi and Claire Nolan \nTickets are priced on a sliding scale £0-£8 depending on what you can afford. To book\, please use the button below. \n[bra_button text=’Buy Tickets’ url=’https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/walkingholding-tickets-51783909066′ target=’_blank’ size=’medium’ style=’rounded’ color=’pink’] \n  \nACCESS \nFilm is in the English language with English language subtitles/captions. \nWe are awaiting information about how accessible the film is for blind and partially sighted audiences. SUMMARY:Pink Excavation
DESCRIPTION:Pink Excavation is Natasha Lall’s first feature length film. With Lall as the narrator and cameos from local queers Mina Baird and Junie Latte\, this DIY film explores the preservation of queer histories in Glasgow\, 2518. Pink Excavation sees Lall excavate 90s-00s technological relics that are outdated in the 2500s and become frustrated at their lack of understanding on how to access information from these ancient technologies. Upon interactions with an archaeologist and a ghost Lall discusses whether or not the poor archiving of LGBT culture has a positive impact on the queer community. The film is a lo-fi\, sci-fi contemplation on the pros and cons of queer visibility. \nScreening with short Reality Fragment (14 mins) by Qigemu\, which examines how multiple lived worlds\, each their own mix of memories\, sensations\, and thoughts\, coexist with de facto presentations of distance\, history\, and totality. \nTickets are priced on a sliding scale £0-£8 depending on what you can afford. To book\, please use the button below or call CCA box office on +44 (0)141 352 4900. \n[bra_button text=’Buy Tickets’ url=’https://ccaglasgow.ticketsolve.com/shows/873598301′ target=’_blank’ size=’medium’ style=’rounded’ color=’pink’] \n  \nACCESS \nFilms in the English language with English language subtitles/captions. Tareq\, a recent asylum seeker from Syria\, has been hired to help with the work. SUMMARY:The Wizard of Oz (an asexual reading)
DESCRIPTION:1939 Hollywood fantasy movie\, The Wizard of Oz\, is known for its strong association with gay male culture\, thought to be the origin for homosexual men using the code ‘Friend of Dorothy’ to identify themselves to each other from the 1950s onwards. However\, other readings are possible. Academic writer Alexander Doty saw Dorothy as a lesbian\, torn between her attraction to the femme Glinda and butch Wicked Witch of the West. Meanwhile\, internet user ‘Spoofmaster’ posted a reading of the film online which regards Dorothy as asexual because she chooses gay non-human companions – that’s the Scarecrow\, Tinman\, and Cowardly Lion – whilst in Oz. We invite viewers to focus on the latter idea and think about asexuality and its hiddenness (or not!) in popular culture. \nIntroduced with the reading of extracts from Spoofmaster’s post in The Asexual Visibilty & Education Network’s online forum\, titled ‘The Wizard of Oz: an asexual reading.’ \nTickets are priced on a sliding scale £0-£8 depending on what you can afford. To book\, please use the button below or call CCA box office on +44 (0)141 352 4900. \n[bra_button text=’Buy Tickets’ url=’https://ccaglasgow.ticketsolve.com/shows/873598311′ target=’_blank’ size=’medium’ style=’rounded’ color=’pink’] \n  \nACCESS \nFilm in the English language with English language subtitles/captions.
