DESCRIPTION:Where are all the butches? What portrayals of lesbianism are acceptable and who is erased? Tender\, funny\, and thought-provoking\, Gender Troubles: The Butches explores these questions through a series of interviews and testimonials with butch-identifying women\, looking at the strange dichotomy of being both hypervisible in everyday life and invisible when it comes to media representation. Director Lisa Plourde’s documentary shows us there’s a lot more to butch identity than plaid shirts and tool belts. \nScreening alongside a short or two and featuring a discussion on butch and masculine queer identities with poet and activist Jo Johnson\, filmmaker and spoken word artist Azara Meghie\, and My Genderation’s Naomhán O’Connor. \nACCESS: Slope up towards door with a ramp at entrance and then level access and accessible toilet on ground floor where Cinema space is (Glasgow Women’s Library).
