DESCRIPTION:Leading up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi\, a law banning the “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations to minors” – which could potentially be enforced against any LGBT person if they “flaunted” their status – was enacted in Russia. Human rights activists and LGBT people involved in the Games contemplated what to do about the situation. To Russia with Love documents their responses and reactions\, speaking to a variety of contributors\, including current and former Olympians and local LGBT campaigners. \nFollowed by a panel discussion on the political situation surrounding events. DESCRIPTION:Tchinda is one of the most beloved women on Cape Verde\, especially after coming out as trans in a local newspaper in 1998. Since then\, her name has become the term used by locals to refer to queer Cape Verdeans. In the month leading up to Carnival\, the slow-paced atmosphere of the island transforms into a frenzied hustle as thousands flock to the streets. SUMMARY:Reaching Communities - LGBTQI+ Preview Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fantastic day of preview screenings of upcoming LGBTQI+ film releases. The event is open to both film programmers and LGBTQI+ groups who are interested in screening films. \nFor existing film groups\, the Preview Day will be an opportunity to see new films prior to public release\, from a selection of distributors you may not have encountered before. We will be screening four new titles that we hope will help inform your future programme. \nIf you are an LGBTQI+ group that is considering screening films\, Cinema For All and SQIFF (Scottish Queer International Film Festival) will be on hand to give you the support and information you need to help establish your own community cinema/ film society\, as well as offering tailored advice on inclusivity and accessibility. Information packs and case studies will also be provided on the day. \nThere will be networking opportunities throughout the day\, offering opportunities to meet other film groups and share ideas. Tea\, coffee and a light lunch will be available\, with vegan options available.
