This session will feature presentations from people working in Deaf and Disabled film aesthetics\, including actor\, filmmaker\, and Artistic Director of Turtléar\, EJ Raymond and artist\, curator\, and consultant\, Caglar Kimyoncu. Followed by an open discussion hosted by SQIFF’s Access & Engagement Coordinator and artist\, Alison Smith. \nTickets are priced on a sliding scale £0-£8 depending on what you can afford. To book\, please use the button below or call CCA box office on +44 (0)141 352 4900. \n[bra_button text=’Buy Tickets’ url=’https://ccaglasgow.ticketsolve.com/shows/873598359/events/128819682′ target=’_blank’ size=’medium’ style=’rounded’ color=’pink’] \n  \nACCESS \nThe event will be BSL interpreted with any film clips subtitled/captioned. SUMMARY:120 BPM Preview plus Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Revisiting elements of his own experience\, Robin Campillo has created a bustling fresco of the personalities and politics of the ACT UP Paris LGBTQI community during the 1990s. SUMMARY:Looking Awry: Representing Bisexual* Desires On Screen
DESCRIPTION:In LGBT+ politics and activism bisexual people are often left out of the conversation. To consider bisexual people – our lives\, our desires\, and the difficulties we face – enriches our understanding of sexuality\, foregrounding issues that we otherwise might not consider. This is eye-opening when considering cinematic representations of bisexuality. Taking a ride through cinema’s invocations of bisexuality\, from well-known Hollywood neonoir thrillers to underground queer filmmaking to the extremities of European art cinema\, let’s take a moment to consider representations of bisexual desire on screen. \nPresented by Jacob Engelberg\, programmer of Brighton-based queer film strand\, Eyes Wide Open Cinema. In partnership with Queer Film Network UK & Ireland. \nACCESS: Level access at entrance of CCA with Cinema space on ground floor. Accessible toilets available. BSL interpretation for event. Hearing loop. \nContent note: discussion of sexual assault and suicide. \nTicket prices on a sliding scale according to your circumstances. Either you respect it or you don’t.” Together we are bringing about change. You are not alone and you belong. SUMMARY:Workshop: Filmmaking with Lasse Långström
DESCRIPTION:Lasse Långström’s films – including Folkbildningsterror and Who Will Fuck Daddy?\, both screening in the Festival – are always personal\, political\, and unlike anything else you’re likely to see.  Collaborating with groups of friends\, his work is always inventive and anarchic – and often really funny as well. In this workshop\, Lasse will discuss his newest film\, which he describes as a dirty\, pleasurable\, experimental\, and occult tribute to alternative masculinities\, and a postpatriarchal affirmation of transgender infinite wisdom. Lasse hopes to produce part of this film in Glasgow during and after SQIFF\, so come along to hear more about it\, and perhaps even get a chance to join in with the ongoing work of this brilliant and talented director! \nAges 18+ only. \nACCESS: Level access at entrance of CCA with lift up to second floor for Clubroom. Describing her working process\, Leventhal says\, “I start with a subject that I care deeply about / I concentrate on fear\, desire\, anger\, confusion\, and love. / I concentrate on the emotional relationships between humans\, humans and animals\, and humans and their environments. / I am particularly interested in the way we develop based on our experiences in childhood\, and then the process of undoing it.” \nPresenting her shorts alongside her recent collaboration Hard As Opal with Jared Buckhiester\, Leventhal will also present a preview of her in-progress work\, Strangely Ordinary This Devotion\, a collaboration with Sheilah Wilson. \nThis is event is free and unticketed. \nACCESS: Transmission is accessible for wheelchair users via Trongate 103. Please enter at the street entrance to Trongate 103 and take the lift to the basement floor. Accessible toilets available. SUMMARY:Queer Horror: The Haunting
DESCRIPTION:Dr. John Markway\, an anthropologist with an interest in psychic phenomena\, takes two specially selected women to Hill House\, a reportedly haunted mansion. Eleanor\, a lonely\, eccentric woman with a supernatural event in her past\, and the bold (and all but openly lesbian) Theodora\, who has ESP\, join John and the mansion’s heir\, cynical Luke. They are immediately overwhelmed by strange sounds and events\, and Eleanor comes to believe the house is alive and speaking directly to her. The Haunting is a pretty solid argument for the underlying queerness of the Hollywood horror movie aesthetic. \nScreening with short film Cheat (2 mins). Followed by a discussion on queer horror hosted by Jordan Phillips with guest Dr. Darren Elliott-Smith\, researcher and blogger on queerness\, gender\, and the body in horror film and television. \nACCESS: Level access at entrance with lift up to first floor for Theatre space. Accessible toilets on first floor (CCA). Films screening with subtitles for D/deaf and hard of hearing access. BSL interpretation for discussion. SUMMARY:The Surface Tension Trilogy
DESCRIPTION:From activist and painter Frida Kahlo to filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl to Hitler’s lover Eva Braun – Liz Rosenfeld tells a trio of queer histories that may or may not have actually happened. Presented in partnership with Goethe Institut Glasgow. \nACCESS: Level access with Cinema plus accessible toilets all on ground floor (CCA). SUMMARY:When We Are Together We Can Be Everywhere
DESCRIPTION:When Marit Östberg finally had enough time to edit the footage she shot in 2011\, it was already four years old. And\, by then\, her idea of a mockumentary on how to (and how not to) make queer porn had quietly changed into something different: a nostalgic look at nostalgia and a way to rewrite her own history. Now\, she could look back at the idealism of the community she had lived and worked in\, but from the perspective of knowing how things had turned out. The result became something beautiful and thoughtful and funny and sad – and still very\, very hot. A film for sex-positive dreamers everywhere. \nWe’re pleased star Liz Rosenfeld will join us for a Q&A after the screening. Presented in partnership with Goethe Institut Glasgow. \nACCESS: Level access with Cinema plus accessible toilets all on ground floor (CCA). Film mostly in English language screening with subtitles for D/deaf and hard of hearing access. Some German language segments throughout.
