Finance Volunteer Callout

SQIFF holds an annual 5 day event in Glasgow alongside year round one-off events. We are an organisation by and for LGBTQIA+ communities in Scotland. Our aims are to give people a chance to watch movies they wouldn’t otherwise get a chance to see and to challenge barriers to accessing the arts. SQIFF is not-for-profit. We rely on project by project funding with the year round running of the organisation, including financial management, done on a voluntary basis. We are looking at ways to make our work more sustainable, including bringing in more volunteers to support this.

Finance Volunteer

We are looking for someone to record income and expenditure and assist SQIFF’s Coordinator with the annual accounts. We need someone with experience in these areas. SQIFF’s Coordinator will retain responsibility for the accounts and payment of invoices. We would be keen to bring in someone who can also advise on financial strategies to help make our organisation more sustainable. We prefer to work with people who have lived experience of LGBTQIA+ issues.

We are asking a commitment of at least 4 hours per month. We can be flexible within this around people’s availability and access needs. Most of us involved with SQIFF have disabilities or long term conditions we manage alongside our work, so we try to practice flexibility and mutual care.

We do not currently have an office so work will mostly need to be done from home. For any meetings we can offer travel costs and can consider other access costs where needed. If you have any questions about what the role will involve and how we can make it more accessible to you, please get in touch.

Paid role possibility

We would ideally like to have a paid role of Finance Coordinator in the longer term. We would like to work towards building in payment for this role to the funding we are able to apply for. This would be a point for discussion once we have a Finance Volunteer in place.
