SQIFF Shorts: Defiant Dykes

Proudly presenting dykes defying society, each other, themselves, and the demands and expectations of both hetero and queer culture. A feisty granny drags her granddaughter out of the closet, 3 Butch/Femme and Stud/Fem lesbian couples from working-class backgrounds share fragments from their lives, a 17-year-old from a West Bank settlement goes to a gay club for the first time, a child visits their working-class butch great aunt, a Deaf couple get into a storming signing fight on their honeymoon, and a rapper and breakdancer explores their identity.

Krissy Mahan, director of My Aunt Mame, Roman Manfredi, director of Everything That I’m Not, and Azara Meghie & Kai Fiáin, filmmakers of Breaking Down My Translation will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening.
