SQIFF Shorts: Are We Queer Yet?

September 29, 2017 @ 3:30 pm - 4:40 pm

Free – £8

A selection of shorts asking if – and challenging the notion – that we are really queer yet. We follow LGBTQ+ people forging their own space in society and building new worlds. New communities emerge unapologetically, from creation of the trans flag to voguing on a roof in New York. One character states, “We are powerful, we are those bitches, we are confident, we are not the victim, bitch, we are the predator. It is our time, you live in our world. Either you respect it or you don’t.” Together we are bringing about change. You are not alone and you belong. Let’s find our queer future.

After the films, novelist Zoë Strachan – whose Anthology of Scottish LGBT Writing, Out There, carved space for a new generation of queer voices – will be in conversation with filmmaker Asten Holmes-Elliott.

ACCESS: Level access at entrance of CCA with Cinema space on ground floor. Accessible toilets available. Various languages with English subtitles/captions. Hearing loop. If you would like to attend and require BSL interpretation for the discussion, please email info@sqiff.org and we will book this for you.

Ticket prices on a sliding scale according to your circumstances. Choose between FREE, £2, £4, £6, or £8 (prices include CCA booking fee) according to what you can afford. See our ticketing information for more details.
